You not only have to contend with traditional writing skills - i.e. grammar and punctuation - but also the unique structure and vocabulary that colleagues and clients will expect.

Our Business Report Writing Skills course aims to bolster your writing skills, and strengthen the content of your reports. You’ll cover the use of plain and fluent English, using the correct grammar, and demonstrating an effective layout, ensuring that your reports are professional, parsable and contemporary.

Who is the course for?

This course is ideal for anybody who is responsible for producing reports for colleagues and clients, or who wishes to brush up on their business writing skills.

Delegates will learn about common mistakes, how to produce outlines and how to introduce greater clarity in their writing, improving everything from documents to emails.

What content will the course cover?

  • Understand the purpose of reports 

  • Target your reader and analyse their needs 

  • Gather your data and select the relevant information for your reader 

  • Plan your report: brainstorming, mind-mapping & using the ‘outline’ method 

  • Structure your writing to maintain your readers’ attention: the beginning, the middle and the end 

  • How to produce an executive summary 

  • Use visuals, indexes & bibliographies to enhance your report 

  • Select words and phrases that will persuade your reader 

  • Write in a format that is crisp, clear and readily understood by the recipient 

  • Eliminate poor punctuation & grammar.

You will develop a range of report writing skills, from clarifying your objectives to drawing up outlines and organising your information. You will also learn how to construct arguments, prepare summaries and write recommendations - helping you to produce reports that are clear, concise and convincing.

Unless specified, courses commence at 9:30am and finish at approximately 4:00pm.  The day is broken up into modules, both online and offline to ensure engagement and interaction.  We also ensure that there are plenty of comfort breaks throughout the day.

  • Scheduled training courses held at one of our venues

Courses commences at 9:30am and finish at approximately 4:30pm.
On all our scheduled courses, a hot lunch is included, and refreshments are provided throughout the day.

  • In-house & bespoke courses, held virtually or at a venue of your choice
