Why book this course?

Being a director in a business can be substantially different to other leadership roles. As well as your direct responsibilities within the company, you also have to contend with the role of the board, and how you fit into it. This requires a keen understanding of management, communication, direction and ethics as well as traditional leadership skills.

Our training course for directors breaks down the jargon surrounding the role, and offers guidance on a range of responsibilities. You’ll learn how to get the best out of the board, its makeup and structure, the relationship of the board with management, and the duties and responsibilities you will have as a director.

Who is the course for?

Our Directors – Roles and Responsibilities course is ideal for new directors, as well as current directors who are looking to improve in their role, or simply rethink the way they lead their businesses and perform their duties.

The course aims to both provide an overview of the role of a director, and teach candidates the latest techniques for management and information on legal duties. It is also an ideal opportunity to explore the issues you may be facing with our trainers, and to convene with your peers in a relaxed and open setting.

What content will the course cover?

  • The role of the board and how to get the best out of it

  • Understanding differences of role – director, shareholder, manager, executive, non-executive.

  • Understanding legal duties and responsibilities

  • Boards and management teams

  • Board appraisal and direction

  • Management structures and the role of director

  • Business ethics and the role of director

  • The role of the director when things go wrong – crisis management, personal liability

What will I get out of the training?

Learners will gain a better understanding of the role of a director, and an up-to-date picture of their legal responsibilities and duties. You’ll gain greater clarity on how you can incorporate your role with other senior members of the team, and how you can influence and action changes within the business without confrontation.
