Why book this course?

Our half-day workshops unite frontline staff, managers, and leaders to collaboratively define acceptable and unacceptable workplace behaviours. Participants start the workshop by unpacking core principles of conduct and the purpose of protected characteristics in the workplace. Through facilitated dialogue, small-group exercises, and case-law illustrations, we’ll shed light on how well-meaning banter can slip into bullying and why unintended harm matters. The session culminates in split-team workshops to generate “above & below the line” behaviours, followed by an end-of-workshop summary to consolidate and prepare these for review by the organisational leadership team. A follow-up leadership session ensures feedback from each workshop is captured, actions are agreed upon, and commitment to supporting consistent implementation.

Who is the course for?

  • Frontline team members who interact day-to-day with colleagues and customers
  • Managers and leaders at all levels seeking a shared language for team conduct

  • Managers and leaders wanting to embed a collaborative, bottom-up approach to behavioural boundaries

  • Any team member who is committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful workplace culture

What content will the course cover?

  • Core principles of conduct and the role of protected characteristics at work

  • Defining boundaries: participants are invited to share individual views on acceptable banter in various scenarios

  • Distinguishing between banter and bullying, supported by public data and tribunal case examples

  • The impact of unconscious harm and why consistency in behaviour matters

  • Interactive “Above & Below the Line” activity to draft site-specific acceptable and unacceptable behaviours

  • Process for collating group outputs and presenting to the leadership team for final ratification

  • Outline of the follow-up manager workshop: feedback, support actions, and collective leadership commitments

What will I get out of the training?

By the end of this workshop, you’ll have co-created a clear, organisation-specific framework of “above and below the line” behaviours that everyone owns, along with a deeper understanding of protected characteristics and how even well-intentioned banter can cross the line into bullying. You’ll also walk away with a practical roadmap for communicating, implementing, and sustaining these agreed boundaries, supported by committed leadership actions to reinforce them on the ground.

What is the duration of this course?

Each workshop runs for half a day, with multiple sessions run either consecutively or non-consecutively, as required. The follow up Leadership session also runs for half a day or as agreed prior to the start of the workshops.
